The Third Session of the 14th Hunan Provincial People's Congress opened in Changsha on January 14, 2025. Mao Weiming, governor of Hunan Province, made a work report on behalf of the provincial people's government.

The report announced that Hunan in the coming year will focus on boosting industrial development and expanding investment. Ten industrial projects will be given top priority:

- Yueyang ethylene refining-chemical integration project; 

- Substrate glass project of the Hunan Shaohong Special Glass Co., Ltd.;

- Hengyang green saline-alkali industrial base;

- New energy power and energy storage industrial base;

- Hisense's comprehensive production base in Changsha;

- Advanced steel and iron materials industrial structure upgrading project;

- Yuhu Cold Chain (Changsha) Trading Center;

- Zhuzhou medium and low voltage power devices project;

- HKC's Direct View Module and Complete System Project in Changsha; and,

- Semiconductor production base in Xiangtan.
