Four Places in Hunan Among China's Top 100 Counties in Comprehensive County Tourism Strength

The lists of 2024 National Top 100 Counties with Comprehensive Strength in County Tourism and 2024 National Top 100 Counties with Potential for County Tourism Development were announced on June 27, 2024. Liuyang County-level City, Changsha County, Ningxiang County-level City, and Fenghuang County in Hunan Province were included in the former list. Among them, Fenghuang County has made the list for seven consecutive years.

The National County Tourism Research Group and the Huaxia Baiqiang Tourism Consulting Center constructed a research system with 32 indicators in 6 aspects, including the development level of tourism economy, the role of government in promoting tourism, the comprehensive driving force of tourism industry, the tourism development and environmental protection, the function of tourism facilities and services, and the quality of tourism and market supervision. They rated the tourism of 1,866 counties (including county-level cities, autonomous counties, banners, autonomous banners, and forest areas) nationwide, and those with the top 100 scores are the top 100 counties for county tourism in 2024.

In addition, eight regions (counties and county-level cities) - Zixing, Ningyuan, Pingjiang, Jishou, Liling, Taojiang, Leiyang, and Xinhua - were shortlisted for the national top 100 counties in  in terms of county tourism development potential in 2024.
