The Nanling National Trail is among the second batch of national trails released by the National Forestry and Grassland Administration in 2018. With a total length of about 3,016 kilometers, the trail spans Guangdong, Hunan, and Jiangxi provinces, as well as the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. The Hunan section stretches about 840 kilometers, with about 450 kilometers running through Chenzhou. Measuring 26.1 kilometers, the Qitianling Demonstration Section spans areas close to nature and wilderness. Forests along the trail cover 91.53% of the area. There are five rest stations: Yangguling, Tongmushan Protection Station, Zhangjiatang, Linfeng Protection Station, and Xinjian Protection Station. Among them, Tongmushan, Linfeng, and Xinjian protection stations also serve as campsites. Hikers can enjoy the magnificent scenery of the Qitianling Mountains, gain insight into rare plants such as Huangshan pine, and explore the ethnic customs of the Yao ethnic group.
