The Ming and Qing-era Ancient Lane Building Complex is located in Ziyang District, Yiyang City. It was historically subordinated to the Sanbao Area of the old Yiyang City. The existing buildings primarily date from the Qing Dynasty to the Republic of China, encompassing 41 cultural heritage protection units and sites. Originating from the Ming Dynasty, the ancient lane building complex served as one of the birthplaces of Yiyang ancient city. Currently, the area is home to three lanes that are hailed as the most picturesque lanes of the Jiangnan region in southern China, four major historical buildings, four Qing Dynasty-era docks, seven traditional dwelling houses, and seventeen commercial sites of the Republican period.
The building complex is inspired by the old Yiyang and is characterized by the contemporary images of the new Yiyang, showcasing the city's ancient water transport culture and local customs. Positioned as an immersive IP-themed experience zone, the place is designed to be an urban leisure hub shared by residents and visitors. It highlights core cultural attractions such as "One Corridor, Three Streets, Three Towers, Three Lanes, and Four Wharves," creating a historic waterfront where history feels timeless, along with a wall-less cultural museum that continuously showcases Yiyang's heritage.
On January 18, 2025, the Yiyang Ming and Qing-era Ancient Lane Building Complex officially began its trial operation. It strives to build a bustling "Ziyang Night City" that never sleeps by integrating tourism with culture, cuisine, and intangible cultural heritage.
