A flash mob show featuring azalea flowers was staged at a subway station in Changsha on April 13. More than ten elderly people, dressed in vintage attire and holding blooming azaleas, warmly interacted with passersby. They used classic old songs and flowers to create a festive atmosphere in preparation for the upcoming Dawei Mountain Azalea Season.

This creative event, themed "Symphony of Old and New," officially marked the beginning of the 2025 Hunan Ecotourism and 17th Dawei Mountain Azalea Season.

This year's azalea season, themed "Captivating Azaleas Only in Dawei Mountain", will run from April 26 to May 20. As the largest wild azalea viewing destination in central China, Dawei Mountain boasts over 100,000 mu (about 6,666 ha.) of natural azalea fields. Thanks to its unique vertical climate, the flowers bloom in succession at an altitude ranging from 500 to 1,607.9 meters above sea level, creating breathtaking views. Visitors can experience a unique floral journey during three different blooming periods of cherry blossoms and azalea flowers.

To enhance an immersive flower-viewing experience, the scenic area has planned five themed events:
-- Live performances that provide tourists with immersive nostalgic cultural experiences;
-- A "Cloud Bazaar," offering tourists unique shopping delights on Dawei mountaintop at an altitude of about 1,600m;
-- A 10-kilometer hiking route connecting the best viewing spots;
-- A photography contest, capturing the beauty of Dawei Mountain's rich wild bird species and rare flowers; and,
-- A platform where wind chimes can carry messages to distant loved ones.

It is predicted that this year's azalea season will attract over 100,000 visitors. "We hope that through this floral feast, tourists can deeply experience the unique ecological charm of Dawei Mountain," said a manager of the Hunan Dawei Mountain Forest Park Co., Ltd. This year the event will integrate traditional culture with modern experiences, allowing visitors of all ages to resonate with each other.

The scenic area has also partnered with the Liuyang Sky Theater to launch a“two-in-one”ticket which enables tourists to admire azalea flowers by day and enjoy fireworks shows at night. This initiative offers visitors an all-day immersive floral experience.
